It was shaping up to be a pretty grey and potentially rainy day all over the island for Jason + Meg’s backyard Hawai’i wedding. However, since the worst of the storm had passed the night before, we were all hopeful for just enough of a weather window for their special day. We arrived at the north shore garden estate, early enough to begin capturing the bridal party getting ready in the master suite! With so much excitement in the air, the bridesmaids had no hesitation to pop open a bottle of fine champagne and finish their hair and makeup. The bridesmaids also got their first look at the stunning red wedding dress (LOVE non-traditional wedding dress colors).
The rain stopped just in time for the garden ceremony, and although the lawn was somewhat muddy, that didn’t stop the bride from going barefoot and embracing the wet conditions! The afternoon light was being filtered through the clouds, making everything soft and diffuse (yeah, I’d much prefer cloudy conditions to harsh direct sunlight!). Since we weren’t expecting much of a sunset, we decided to head across the street to the beach for a quick bridal portrait session away from guests and family. The rain began again and we were able to use our clear umbrella for some final shots before making it back to the reception tent as the skies really opened up! As raindrops sprinkled down on the canvas roof, Jason + Meg shared their first dances as a married couple, and the party continued on into the night. It was a truly magical wedding on Oahu.
