We had a lot of built-up excitement for their big wedding day after photographing their engagement! Plus, they were getting married at one of our favorite locations-- Moliʻi Gardens at Kualoa Ranch. This tropical venue is situated right next to a traditional Hawaiian fishpond, while also being at the base of the majestic Koʻolau mountains. Their ceremony was set up under a giant oak tree, facing the dramatic cliffs just beyond. While the bridesmaids put on their dresses and added the finishing touches to their makeup, Ikaike read over his hand-written vows by the water’s edge. The anticipation before the ceremony was palpable - the pair were just SO excited to finally be getting married.
The bridal party made their way down the lush green garden to the altar and Kanoe had her fantastic entrance down the spiraling staircase. At the bottom, her dad was waiting with teary eyes to escort her down the aisle. Even with a relatively large wedding, the ceremony was still dwarfed by the massive tree, with its spidering canopy above. The tears kept coming as the couple shared their heartfelt vows, with guests in every row getting choked up. Ikaika and Kanoe’s three-year-old son weaving between their legs as they shared vows. After sealing their vows with a passionate kiss, Ikaike and Kanoe started their official celebration with a cocktail hour by the dock.
As the sun started going down, we stole the bride and groom away for a little sunset bridal session (although at this point, the clouds had started rolling in). Pretty soon it was time for the party to begin! After a beautiful dinner, it was time for the lights, music, and dancing to commence! The couple had their first dance under the string lights and chandeliers, with a light rain speckling the clear-top tent (can I also just say, WOW, what a difference a clear-top tent makes! Why don’t more couples want to see the sky?!?!). The night ended with a choreographed sword dance and matching blazers! It was a truly epic day to attend a Moli’i Gardens wedding.
