Tidepool ‘Trash the Dress’

BY ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER TEAM KELSI & PATRICK

So what happens when a pandemic postpones your wedding for another year? Luckily Brittany + Pete were able to secure a new date for their wedding, but still wanted to celebrate their ‘would-be’ wedding day with something special: a beach picnic and tidepool trash the dress session! With the winds dying down on the north shore, we were able to head to our favorite tide pools for some sun, sand, and saltwater. Brittany + Pete brought the fixins for a beach picnic-- cold beers, fresh pineapple, and a ukulele! He sang love songs on the deserted beach, while they both relaxed under the palm trees. We even set up our hammock for some seriously tropical relaxation vibes. With the water entirely to ourselves, the water was calm and quiet. Our lovers held each other in the ocean as the sunset, taking advantage of this perfect excuse to celebrate their special day.

This couple (who works in healthcare) had to postpone their wedding for another year due to the COVID-19  pandemic. It's disappointing and overwhelming. But we feel for them. And photos like these may be a bit overhyped - but we think they also document history. We hope that one day their great great-grandkids look back on this photo as a way to remember these scary times we've been living through. And we know that in a year they'll have an amazing celebration with friends and family because #lovealwayswins. We can only imagine how much more special their actual wedding will be! For now, a trash the dress session is the perfect way to celebrate safely.
