With so many great locations for a large tropical wedding on Oahu, Turtle Bay Resort on the north shore is perhaps one of the most iconic (ever seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall? yep, one of our goofy favorites!). However, the wedding of Sean and Stephanie was actually the first time we’ve actually been to the resort itself, other than the public beach. This happy couple had been here before though, and it was actually where Sean popped the question to Stephanie, so it made perfect sense that the two were to be married here as well! With friends and family flying in from all over (not to mention a giant wedding party of over 15 people!), this summer wedding was going to be a production! Luckily, the Turtle Bay grounds were spacious enough to accommodate everyone in the seaside chapel and manicured lawn.
All their closest friends and family members surrounded them at the altar. They were also able to incorporate a traditional Hawaiian lei exchange and even sealed their vows with a conch kiss-- with the newlyweds having to hold their first kiss for the entire length of the conch blow! Afterward, the party started on the lawn, complete with torches, dancing, a spectacular sunset, and the picture-perfect “Aloha” lights sign.
Sean and Stephanie’s amazing Turtle Bay Resort wedding was in fact an entire weekend filled with tons of friends and family, adventures on the North Shore, and a joyous celebration that lasted well into the night. We laughed together, explored the Turtle Bay grounds, and truly enjoyed each other’s company. Their love for each other was evident in every little detail– from the way they spoke to each other to how they reached out on reflex to grab each other’s hands while taking sunset photos. This summer wedding at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu was the wedding little girls dream of and we feel so lucky to have photographed it.
